Karol Jozef Wojtyla, has been known as Pope John
Paul II since October 1978. Through the 24-year
reign, he employed his love and faith in God to
encourage world peace. His countless visits to almost
every country, rich and poor, has truly helped his
cause. His mere presence miraculously brings love
and peace wherever he goes.
Pope John Paul II was born in the small city
of Wadowice, Poland. During his childhood, he
faced tremendous difficulties in his home country,
especially throughout World War II. However, troubles
could not vanish his courage and faith in God.
After finishing his doctorate in theology in 1948,
he devoted himself to Christ and advocated peace
for mankind. His great contribution to morality
and world peace created many positive changes
in the world and Pope John Paul II is praised
as a man who has made a remarkable impact on the
world.
The Mayer Mint - Germany issued the Pope John
Paul II product series to commemorate the occasion
of the Jubilaeum 2000 and the 80th birthday of
His Eminence. This treasure was blessed
by the Pope during a private audience in May 2000.
