A. Legal Tender
Status of Numismatic Coins: |
|
| |
 |
Legal Tender in a Numismatic Coin
refers to un-circulated coins, issued for commemorative
purposes by a Central Bank of an Issuing Country.
These coins may or may not be sold in the Issuing
Country and in most cases, the bulk of this products
is sold into other countries where the majority
of collectors are located. Legal Tender status
adds a tremendous amount of legitimacy and credibility
to the product, through its official status through
the government backing.

B. Strictly Limited and Controlled Mintages:
All our Legal Tender Coins and Medallions are strictly
limited in their mintage / edition. This means that
the manufacturer guarantees (usually a government or
private mint) that for example not more 5,000 pcs. of
a certain coin will be minted.
Even if demand is 10 or 100 times higher and the Company
could make tremendous additional profits not 1 coin
will be minted in excess of 5,000 pcs., but rather the
concerned mint will destroy the dies and send them back
to the Issuing Authority (i.e. Central Bank of the Issuing
Country) of the legal tender.

C. Added Value of Numismatic
Coins and Medallions: Numismatic coins,
unlike non-Numismatic products which are manufactured
on a mass production basis, are produced by skilled
craftsmanship in industrialized countries.
Reputable Mints pay tremendous salaries to highly
skilled Master Sculptors, Engravers and Mint Masters.
These experts are worth their money, but add tremendously
to the production cost not only directly through
their salaries, but also indirectly through complex
production processes to enhance product quality.
Again, unlike in the mass-production bullion
quality products, numismatic products are of highest
value with a “proof finish” and at
the same time of beautifully crafted “high
relief”.
|
 |
|
|
| |
To achieve the proof finish and high relief on the same
product, numismatic coins require more than just one strike,
rather usually 3-5 sessions of up to 5 strikes (total
of 25 strikes) and depending on the size of the coin and
the height of the relief, with an “annealing process”
in between.
The proof finish is critical as at some point of time
it influences the numismatic value of the product. In
order to keep the coin in proof condition, all our numismatic
coins are sealed for protection in translucent acrylic
capsules.
